PHUKET BUSINESS DINNER
Thailand in mid-decade : will the next five years restore political stability and economic prosperity?
Guest speaker: Christopher Bruton, Executive Director of Dataconsult Ltd
The Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC) in collaboration with the British, French, German and Netherlands Chambers of commerce invites you to attend the Phuket Business Dinner.
Overview:
Thailand has experienced nearly two decades of experimentation with different forms of political and economic structures, Coups and chaos. As a result, we risk falling behind regional competitors in terms of economic growth, political maturity and social harmony. Can the new "command economy" put Thailand back on track and recover momentum? This presentation will include conclusions reached during corporate roundtable discussions in Bangkok and Singapore with a range of corporate and non-government organizations.
About the speaker:
Chris Bruton has achieved and survived 45 years of residence in Thailand, after leaving his native UK, with sojourns in France and Malaysia along the way. He has worked in publishing, corporate finance, real estate and mining, as well as extensive consulting assignments in each of the Mekong Region countries. He is familiar with life in Southern Thailand having managed mining operations in Ranong and Nakhon Srithammarat and rural development in Prachuab Khirikhan.
In earlier and wiser years, Chris graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), with postgraduate personnel and language qualifications from the Universities of London, Paris and Malaya. His Thai family numbers four children, four grandchildren, four nationalities (UK, Thai, Singapore, Australia) and three religions (Christian, Buddhist, Islam).
He is therefore a liberal in experience and disposition, confronted by an increasingly illiberal world.
