Synopsis:
A black-and-white drama about women's emancipation that marks the directorial debut of the popular Italian actress Paola Cortellesi. Inspired by Italy's pink Neorealism, the film in question follows the vicissitudes of an abused housewife in postwar Rome and addresses issues of patriarchy and women's emancipation during the year Italian women were allowed to vote for the first time. The film is racking up record numbers at the Italian box office.
